What’s Up Doc? – Research Showcase

Friday, March 2, 2018, 63rd Annual Scientific Assembly

The Research Showcase Call for Abstracts is now closed.

 


All submissions will be peer reviewed by the Research Review Committee between December 1 and December 22, 2017. Abstracts will be evaluated and scored based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance and importance to family medicine
  • Relevance to primary care research and researchers
  • Innovation/originality
  • Clear, well-written description, well-defined objectives and appropriate learning methods/style

Should your submission be selected for display or presentation at the Research Showcase, you will be notified by email during the week of January 8, 2018. Please note that the Research Review Committee reserves the right to decide the presentation format for your submission

Among the accepted abstracts in each category (poster and presentation) several will be recognized and will receive the Reviewers’ Choice Awards. The recipients of these awards will be announced and acknowledged at the What’s Up Doc? Research Showcase taking place on March 2, 2018 at the 63rd ASA.

Abstract Categories


***IMPORTANT***

  • This event is intended solely to be a forum for presentation of research. Marketing of products, services or software will not be allowed.

  • Recruitment of study participants at the Research Showcase is not permitted unless it has been previously approved by our office. Contact Lorrainne Dubois for more information.


Abstracts should not contain any references or acknowledgements. Please review and adhere to the following guidelines if you would like to submit an abstract:

POSTERS

  • Research in Progress – for abstracts submitted in this category, the research to be presented must be in progress at the time of the Call for Research Abstracts submission deadline. If your research is in progress at the time of the submission deadline but you anticipate that it will be complete by the time of this event, you should still submit the abstract as a poster on research in progress.
  • Completed Research – for abstracts submitted in this category, the research to be presented must be complete at the time of the Call for Abstracts submission deadline of November 27, 2017.
  • Program Evaluation/Description – submissions in this category should describe programs or policies that are currently in effect or in the planning phases and are relevant to family physicians and/or the delivery of primary health care. Please ensure information provided includes outcomes and how the program or policy will be evaluated for effectiveness.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS

  • Research in Progress and/or Completed Research – for abstracts submitted in this category, the research to be presented must be complete at the time of the Call for Abstracts submission deadline of November 27, 2017.
  • Program Evaluation/Description – abstracts in this category should describe programs or policies relevant to family medicine and/or primary care. These can include descriptions of programs or policies that are currently in effect or those in planning phases. Please ensure information provided includes outcomes and how the program or policy will be evaluated for effectiveness.

Abstract Guidelines:

Abstracts should be a maximum of 350 words in length. Please do not use any bullets or special characters in the abstract description. The abstract should contain the appropriate headings and content for the applicable abstract submission category as detailed below.

Before submitting your abstract, please check carefully to make sure it contains no spelling or typographical errors. Once you submit the abstract, it cannot be altered or resubmitted.

Suggestion: You may wish to use a word processing program (e.g. Microsoft Word) to create your abstract, then copy and paste into the abstract field on the submission form. Download Full Abstract Guidelines.
