CME refers to the process of acquiring
new clinical knowledge and skills by
practising family physicians. MAINPRO®
(Maintenance of Proficiency) is the
College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
program that governs the CME
requirements of its members.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons
of Alberta (CPSA)
has announced that satisfactory evidence
of participation in continuous
profession development (CPD) will be a
requirement for licensure in Alberta by
December 2009. This means that all
Alberta physicians are required to
participate in either the Mainpro
program of the College of Family
Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
or the MOC program of the Royal College
of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
