Committees

In keeping with the Alberta Chapter Bylaws, a Slate of Nominations for all Alberta Chapter Committees is proposed to the membership prior to the Annual General Meeting in the spring of each year.  If you are interested in participating on one of our committees, we encourage you to contact the Alberta Chapter office by November 15th of each year.  For more information on a specific committee, please contact the ACFP.  …  MORE

Board Members
The Board is a governing Board under the Bylaws of the Alberta College of Family Physicians.  The President of the ACFP is also Chair of the Board, and is the official spokesperson on issues that arise during and between Board meetings. 

Executive Members
The Executive Committee exercises all of the powers and functions of the Board between the meetings of the Board.  Any action of the Executive is subject to ratification by the Board at its next meeting.

Alberta Family Practice Network (AFPRN) Committee
The AFPRN Steering Committee provides overall direction and advice to the Research Network and approves all research projects that involve the Network. 

Annual Scientific Assembly (ASA) Committee
The ASA, held in the spring of each year, provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of topics and ideas that impact family medicine. 

Care of the Elderly Committee
A working group composed of community and academic family physicians with a commitment to providing high quality care to seniors with chronic and complex conditions. Committee members represent rural areas and regional and urban centres throughout the province. Members share and discuss issues and new developments, and seek to demonstrate local and provincial leadership by sharing their knowledge and learnings with all family physicians in the province and with other health disciplines involved in caring for seniors.

Continuing Medical Education Committee
Currently Under Review.  The CME Committee provides provincial leadership to facilitate and encourage the development of resources and infrastructures for the continuing medical education of family physicians in Alberta.  The committee adheres to the national MAINPRO process. 

Nominating and Awards Committee
The Nominating and Awards Committee ensures that information regarding the National CFPC Awards Program is promoted and disseminated to the membership, and that an open and fair process for the selection of recipients/nominees takes place.  They are also responsible for conducting a fair and transparent process for the selection of members of the Executive and other ACFP committees.
