What We Do

ACFP is involved in various initiatives supporting and advocating for family medicine and family physicians that help make Alberta the best place to practice comprehensive medicine in Canada.

Annual Scientific Assembly
The ACFP’s annual CME event began just a year after the Chapter was founded, with an inaugural meeting in Red Deer, Alberta.  The conference was moved to Banff, Alberta in 1959 and has since remained. Recognized as Alberta’s premier conference for family physicians,the ASA is Education for Family Docs by Family Docs.

Student Initiatives
The College has had a long history collaborating with our universities to ensure students have every opportunity to understand and explore family medicine as a career.  

Care for Seniors
The ACFP is proud to have a dedicated group of member physicians who have a special interest in providing care for the elderly patient with complex needs.   
  
AFPRN (Alberta Family Physicians Research Network)
Our network encourages and promotes family medicine research throughout the province of Alberta. 

Tools for Practice
The ACFP is a proud sponsor of Tools for Practice.  Tools for Practice is a biweekly articles that summarizes medical evidence on a clinical question.  Led  and coordinated by Dr. G. Michael (Mike) Allan, Associate Professor in the University of Alberta Department of Family Medicine.

Building on the success of the Tools for Practice initiative, the ACFP is pleased to present the Evidence & CPD Mini-Conference Roadshow.
