Alberta College of Family Physicians Honours Excellence in Family Medicine
Edmonton, AB, October 25, 2012 – The Alberta College of Family Physicians (ACFP) is pleased to announce that Dr. Michel Donoff of Edmonton is
Alberta’s Family Physician of the Year for 2012. Recipients of this prestigious award are chosen by their peers in recognition of their significant contributions to the health and well being of their communities, dedicating themselves to the education of future generations of family doctors, and most importantly, for providing exceptional care to their patients.
“As an advocate, Dr. Donoff is unparalled. He is well-known as an excellent representative for patients, learners, fellow family physicians, and interdisciplinary team members. He has been instrumental in several primary care improvements on a local and national scale," says colleague Dr. Sudha Koppula. "Dr. Donoff is the ultimate teacher and mentor who selflessly shares his wealth of advice and experience. He makes a significant valuable impact on family medicine in many ways.”
Dr. Donoff has been a family physician for 30 years in Edmonton and became a faculty member of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta in 1983. He has had an integral role in improving assessments for students and practitioners to ensure optimal learning and trustworthy practice assessments. An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Donoff is a firm believer in “Vitamin N” − the benefit of nature−and uses any excuse to be outdoors. Dr. Donoff is a dedicated family man and enjoys life with his wife Danusia, daughter Gabrielle, and son Chris.
